Artist Statement:

Sheila Rosa was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Art has always been part of her life. She comes from a family of artists and  at a very young age she started taking art classes at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio. She has a degree in advertising and marketing and worked as a photography producer for a large retail company in Brazil.

Sheila moved to the United States in the '80s and has been living in Maryland, where she first learned about kiln-formed glass and now has her own studio. She has exhibited at shows at Glen Echo and the Creative Crafts Council at Strathmore, among others.

Over the years Sheila has taken classes with some great glass artists and has worked with a number of local artists. Recently she assisted Nikki O’Neil in a week-long class at the Corning Museum of Glass and at Snow Farm.
