Metal

Renate Chernoff says that prsonal experiences gathered over a life lived in various parts of the world, shaped by dramatic and traumatic events, have inspired much of the subject matter of her pieces.

Her present work involves weaving with metal wires, computer parts and with yarns.  She uses a four-harness loom and often utilizes the double weave structure.  The woven wire warps, with wefts of wire and hand dyed yarns, are used for jewelry and sculptural pieces.  Wires, in conjunction with vitreous enamels on copper or brass, are used for larger wall hangings and sculptural forms.
