George Van Dyke has been an artisan for over 20 years and continues to explore the unique characteristics each piece of wood presents as it takes shape on the lathe.

He says “When I look at a piece of wood I try to see beyond its bark and borders and envision its transformation into a piece of art. I don’t think I will ever be bored as I work on my lathe and one shape morphs into another. There is always an element of mystery as the layers are peeled away and the beauty of texture and pattern come into focus.”
